OUR JOURNEY

Fundación Pilares was born in 2008, the result of the commitment of a group of volunteer friends who came together at a parish in Villa 21-24 in Barracas with a simple purpose: to help wherever it was needed. This act of solidarity—rooted in connection and active listening—grew over time, becoming more professional and taking shape around a clear objective: to support the integral development of early childhood and to strengthen families living in vulnerable contexts.

Over the years, that commitment turned into concrete and sustained action. Each step along our journey has brought new challenges, deeper community engagement, and steady progress toward a more just society:

:

  • 2010: We began a new institutional phase, building a team of professionals to design social programs. We grew in the number of participants, volunteers, sponsors, and programs—as well as in quality and commitment. That same year, we obtained legal status as a foundation.

  • 2011: We launched our first educational program, which later became Haciendo Lupa—an initiative that promotes sustained school trajectories in early years.

  • 2012: We opened the CONIN Center in the San Blas area of Villa 21-24. Today, it has evolved into the COPIF program, focused on promoting early childhood and family development.

  • 2014: We took a key institutional step by changing our name from Caacupé ONG to Fundación Pilares, solidifying our identity and long-term vision.

  • 2016: We inaugurated the Pilarcitos Early Childhood Center in Nueva Pompeya, co-managed with the Ministry of Human Development and Habitat of the Buenos Aires City Government. The center provides care, stimulation, and nutrition to children starting at 45 days old.

  • 2018: We opened a new space—CPI Floreciendo—in the neighborhood of Flores, which now supports over 150 children between the ages of 8 months and 3 years.

  • 2022: We launched TRAMA, a project that strengthens and supports grassroots community organizations, promoting networked collaboration and local leadership.

Currently, we work with more than 500 families each year through five social programs and projects, operating from three neighborhood centers in Villas 21-24 and 1-11-14, and in partnership with other local organizations.

Our journey is the story of a commitment that renews itself every day—a connection that is not imposed, but built from within, through presence, respect, and trust. We walk alongside families, because we believe that social transformation begins in our closest relationships and multiplies through community.
